Ashley Horner Biography and Life
Ashley Horner first became interested in sports while in high school. She had always lived a healthy life since she could remember. Ashley played football and enjoyed gymnastics for years. She remembers seeing her mother slowly change her lifestyle to be healthier, and in the process began to change Ashley’s approach to fitness.
“I cut down on soda, switched to skim milk, and got a family membership at a local gym. I had no idea that these few indirect changes would have such a direct impact on the person I would become years later. “
After getting married and giving birth to her son, she gained another 45 pounds during her pregnancy. But prior to her pregnancy she was determined to always stay fit, lean and healthy, which was unfortunately not the case for Ashley.
“After my son was born, I gained a total of 45 kilos throughout my pregnancy! Before I got pregnant, I always said that I would always stay in shape, especially after I had a baby, and that I would not use that as an excuse to carry an extra 10-20 pounds of baby weight. “
In the months following the birth of her son, she slowly began to realize how much weight she had gained. Ashley said, “I will never forget the months after my son was born, I stood in front of the mirror and was horrified by what I saw!”
Taking care of her newborn son was a full-time job, she remembers not showering for days and feeling awful. From this point on, she knew she had to make a change and turn things around.
“Even for someone like me, I always went to an understanding gym. I’ve never had to work so hard for something that was supposed to come so easily to me. “
Ashley has committed herself to training and preparing for the first figure competition held in Cape Cod America. The competition was held on April 19, 2008.
She contacted someone in her local area who knows about fitness and competition preparations. Little did Ashley know at the time, but this person would change her life forever. Rhonda Finlayson was her name, and she taught her everything she could imagine. All about diet, nutrition and competition preparation.
It didn’t take long for her body to begin to change dramatically. She saw her arms grow, her legs and abs starting to take shape. All the hours in the gym and eating nutritious food paid off. Ashley won her first competition and has continued to compete in many competitions since her first win.
“All the hard work paid off and I won my first competition. I’ve raced a few times since then, enjoying the challenge and all the hard work and dedication it takes to get there. “
